Preparation: Your Caleeda consultant appointed to you will provide you with step by step support and guidance on all aspects of your interview. Whether you are attending your first interview or are experienced in attending interviews, the following interview techniques may help you increase your success rate:
Find out what skills and qualifications are relevant to the company.
Make a list of all your skills and qualifications which match the company's.
Reread your job application: This will allow you to prepare for any questions the employer may have about you.
Think about your own career and the questions they may ask you: The company will want to know a little about your ambitions and what you hope to gain from them, what you can offer and in what direction you want to take your career.
You should prepare some questions to ask them: This will show that you are interested and have made an effort to organise and plan ahead. Try to ask questions about the job and the company before asking about salary and benefits.
Remember body language can speak volumes: When you are being interviewed, it is important that you give positive signals:
When attending an interview you should dress smartly and always leave earlier than you need to in case you experience unexpected problems, such as train disruptions or traffic. Be courteous to all the employees of the company and shake the hands of those interviewing you. Always remain positive about your self and your abilities and never draw any attention to anything negative. If a negative point is raised try to make it into a positive. For example, if you have been unemployed for a few months explain what you did with your time, mention any courses you attended, any voluntary work you did, if you helped family or friends. You want to show them that you are an active person, not passive. Most of all be relaxed - if you have planned and prepared you should have nothing to worry about.
